Hillsboro, Oregon FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington County Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol is very happy to announce the “Billy Mitchell Award” was earned by Cadet 2nd Lt. Teresa J. Gray, daughter of David and Stephanie Gray of Hillsboro. Oregon Wing Commander, Colonel Brian Bishop, made the presentation at our meeting last week. C/2Lt Teresa Gray is a student at Portland Community College, majoring in General Studies. She was instrumental in starting a Color Guard in our squadron which presented the flag at the International Air Show and several Portland Trail Blazer games. The Color Guard team went on to win first place in Oregon Wing competition and 4th in the Pacific Region. Teresa has participated in countless Honor Guard events with the Maryland Wing Honor Guard in the past. She earned a Commander’s Commendation from her participation in one event. She has attended the National Honor Guard Academy and plans to attend again this year for her second year of training. Teresa was installed as Cadet Commander of our Squadron on the same night as her Mitchell Award was presented. Some of her hobbies include a Black belt in Taekwondo, writing, Honor Guard, recreational volleyball, arts and crafts, spending time with her parents, and learning about her family. Teresa hopes to become either a Police Officer or a Corporate Pilot.
